Auction periods are displayed on the Buying And Selling pages of Wine Auctioneer's website.  On the final day of an auction period, our auctions shall end from 7pm (BST/GMT, active UK time).

Once 7pm is reached, bidding activity on ANY item will prolong the ENTIRE auction by a further 2 minutes.

The entire auction will end when there has been no bidding activity within a two minute period after 7pm.  Please note that this may take a number of subsequent hours to achieve.

You may submit as many bottles as you like.

Wine Auctioneer reserves the right to restrict volumes of similar wines in each auction - particularly in the case of mature bottles from a single seller.

Sellers are paid within 21 business days from the end of an auction, however payment is only completed if the buyer has paid us.

Payment is made by direct bank transfer and can take a few days to show in your account.

Any banking charges or exchange rates are paid for by the seller.

If your item does not achieve the Reserve price you have set, then we can either relist in a future auction or arrange to have bottles returned.

Listing and Reserve fees still need to be paid for each auction in which your items feature.

Wine Auctioneer accepts red, white, rose and sparkling table wines along with fortified wines such as Port, Sherry and Marsala.

Wine Auctioneer does not accept consignments of miniature bottles, spirits, vermouth, beers, ciders and non-alcoholic wines.

Following the introduction of Minimum Unit Pricing legislation from the Scottish Government, Wine Auctioneer introduced starting-bids. Any consignment deemed unlikely to achieve starting-bid value will be rejected at auctioneer's discretion.

If you would like to consign for auction any spirits, please see our sister-sites, Whisky Auctioneer and Rum Auctioneer.

Our staff conduct a strict authenticity and condition check of all consignments received; Wine Auctioneer will only accept bottles which are in good physical condition - seals intact and no leakage - and we reserve the right to withdraw and reject any Lot which displays evidence of leakage at any time prior to completion of auction.

Loss & Breakage Assurance is offered to warrant against the total breakage or loss of wines in transit arising from human negligence.

Loss & Breakage Assurance does not cover leakage attributable to the natural deterioration or unforeseen failure of closure materials.

If any issue arises in transit regarding breakage, it is critical to retain all the original packaging and contact us immediately.

Loss & Breakage Assurance is optional and if selected is charged at rate of 3% of the total value of all Lots included in your order.

Confirmed bids cannot be cancelled.  As per our terms and conditions, all bids are legally binding and must be honoured.

We recommend that bidders satisfy themselves with the physical condition of the bottle(s) as shown in photographs, and that these match the Lot descriptions, prior to placing bids.

If a bid has been mistakenly entered at a higher-than-intended value, then we may be able to amend your max-bid downwards only as low as the existing high-bid at that time.  Please contact us directly as soon as possible if this is the case.
