Château Petrus 1947 Pomerol
Château Petrus is undisputedly the top wine estate in the Bordeaux right-bank appellation of Pomerol and rightly lays claim to being one of the most famous estates in the world of wine. Unofficially recognised as a "Premier Grand Cru" (no such classification exists in Pomerol), Petrus is considered first-among-equals with the likes of Mouton- and Lafite-Rothschild in regards to both quality and iconic stature.
While the modern wines of Chateau Petrus are almost entirely Merlot, pre-1960s the wine was more typical of other Pomerol and St-Emilion estates as a blend of approximately 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc.
This 1947 vintage bottle is labelled for Belgian wine-merchant, J.Vandermeulen-Decanniere of Ostende, Belgium.
We would recommend viewing/close inspection prior to placing any bids. If this is not an option and you have questions beyond the offered description and images, please contact us for a more in-depth condition report. Otherwise lots will be sold as seen in the images.
Please note: Due to the various ages of bottles and their seals, condition of liquid is at the buyer's discretion and no claim can be lodged against failure/leakage in transit.
