Villabella "Fracastoro" 2006 Amarone Riserva
Amarone della Valpolicella is one of Italy's most iconic wines. As with all Valpolicellas, the wine is a blend of the Corvina, Molinara and Rondinella grape varieties. Amarone is produced through a process of partially rack-drying grapes - to increase concentration of both natural grape flavours and sugars - for approximately 4 months before winemaking begins. The result is a wine of atypical power, concentration and alcohol content with an ability to benefit from long periods of maturation. As a Riserva, this wine was matured for 4 years in oak barrels prior to bottling in December 2012.
