Ramos Pinto Velho-72 Port
From Ramos Pinto, "Velho-72" is believed to be an old Port of the Tawny style.
Tawny Port is a particular style of Port in which the fortified wines are aged for a number of years in small oak casks. This process of deliberate and careful oxidative maturation imparts typical characteristics of stewed fruits, nuts and leather. The wines do not age or improve further upon bottling.
We are informed that "Velho 72" was produced from pre-phyloxera era vines of the 1872 vintage, bottled in the 1950s - however we are entirely unable to confirm the validity of this information.
We would recommend viewing/close inspection prior to placing any bids. If this is not an option and you have questions beyond the offered description and images, please contact us for a more in-depth condition report. Otherwise lots will be sold as seen in the images.
Please note: Due to the various ages of bottles and their seals, condition of liquid is at the buyer's discretion and no claim can be lodged against failure/leakage in transit.
